New ATV

I'm looking for a new wheeler for one of my kids.  He out grew the 50cc so that goes to the younger one.  I am thinking about skipping the 90's and 100-150's and going to a 250cc.  I figure he will be able to ride it longer and I dont have to spend as much money.  What kind do you guys think is the best for the money in the 250 class?

I think all the major brands make a good entry level ATV.  Kymco might even have something in that size that would fit the bill.  The only ones I would stay away from are the Chinese-made ones.  I've heard they are a nightmare to get parts for, and they need parts often.  I would stay away from Kawasaki though, I hear they're slower than all get out.   ;)

jake h.
I found out first hand that my kind would not ride his quad due to the face that it scared him due to the large size of the machine. He is nine and I had him a wolvy 350.He is a tall kid but didn't like it because it was to big(intimidating) and I was thinking the same as you.
I was going to get him a kingquad 700(slow & safe) but didn't want all the other kids to beat him up ;)  :P
So I got him a tank 110 and he rides the crap out of it. I let him pick out the quad he wanted and that's the 1 he chose.I have had zero problems with it and I personally ride it alot also. It's very wide and stable.
Just thought I'd let you know from 1st hand experience

I have been letting him ride the rancher 420's around the yard, I ride with him just in case.   :P  I put it in ES mode and make him stay in 1st and 2nd gear and he seems to do ok.  I got him his 50 just before he turned 5 and he is about to be 10.  that little 50 hauls for a little bike.  we followed him at 36 mph down a section road.  I looked at the kymco but the closest dealer is in flandrue, and alot of the others are about $4k.  I'm sure I could find a deal, just gotta look.

I still have the womans 07 Can Am DS 250 for sale, its still at open throttle but Im going to pick it up soon because she wants to ride something right now.  It is a full size quad, automatic, street legal, tops out at about 50mph.  Im trying to get $2500 out of it.  If you want I would let you try it out and see what you think

Thanks, but I already picked up a fourtrax 300 4x4.  That looks like a pretty good deal though, I know some people looking around for a wheeler, I will let them know.
