Yankton River Boat Days Race - Need a good turn out!!!

As some of you know Yankton will not be having the normal race this year. The snowmobile association decided not to have their race this year. So Dj Linder and myself have been working with the city manager to get a race on River Boat Days. We have got it passed and there will now be a race, and its going to be right down by the river where all the people will be at. The only thing is, we need to have a huge turn out and a lot of spectators or chances are they wont let us do this next year. This is going to be a huge event if I can get it advertised and get things going. If it all goes well we would like to have a few of these next summer. Here are the details with more details still to come....

Its going to be a 300ft TILLED DIRT track. They gave us 100 X 700ft to work with so the track is going to be plenty wide and there will be plenty of shutdown area. You can run stock tires on these kinds of tracks as they hook up hard! 3/4 of the racers at West Fair were just running dirt tires.

There will be 100% payback with an added pot of sponsership money to be spread throughout all the classes. Payouts could be pretty big if we have big classes!!

We have a Dj lined up to announce and play music throughout the race and one of the local radio stations is advertising for us.

We will have flyers made hopefully today so its going to be advertised all over Yankton and the surrounding areas along with Nebraska and Iowa.

I will post the classes and times for everything in a separate post, please help us make this a huge event and a fun one so we can have more of them in the future!

This is going to be a good one.......You guys will love the tilled dirt.  I couldn't believe how everything hooked up on it.  1bad's Renny ran just as well with stockers as it did with paddles.   The starting line stays consistent and bites hard.  Should be fun being a part of Riverboat days also.  Hopefully NOHVA will rent out their lights.  Good job Nelly and DJ getting it put together.  Now get your ass to work and get that track ready.

Moby is right, the date will be August 23rd. Sorry for the short notice but we just got this put together in the last week.  We will have registration from 9:30 - 11, test and tune from 9:30 - 11 and the races will start at Noon. We will not be using brackets but instead a little different way. I think everyone will like it. I'm working with Ted from Allseasons Powersports in Yankton on getting a bunch of free stuff to raffle off throughout the race and some sponsorship money to through into the extra payout pot. Again that will be spread throughout all the classes. Here are the classes....

Like Moby said, were trying to get lights as of right now but were not positive on that yet. This race is going to be in a great location and close to the river so if you would like, wonder on down there and check out whats going on. Theres tons of stuff going on sat. and sat. night along with the famous beer garden and more food vendors than you can imagine. So if you want, come fill yourself up with food and beer sat. night!

I would have loved to come up sat night, but Buckshots is throwing a huge B-day party for Me and Darrel that night. Its gonna be a bitch,but We will try to make the races on sunday. Can we call in our registration on the way up? Also, How far would we be from an area my GF could go Kayaking?

  Well you better get your ass here!  You can pm me the classes you want to run and i'll sign ya up.  The river is only a couple miles away, she would have a blast Kayaking up the shore and seeing River Boat Days from the water. Along with the bridges and stuff.

What kind of dirt tires work the best on a track like this. Knobbies or more of a utility tire.  The paddles that I have are the angled one and I don't think they will hook hard enough.

Just about anything will hook. The guys at west fair were running stock tires on both utilities and sport quads. For the utilities, i'm guessing the same type of tire you would use at say Talsmas, something with a some more bite. Pretty much any kind of paddles will hook up really well.  Andy, are you talking about paddles for junkie?

yes I am. We are changeing some things around so I should launch alot harder.

cool deal. I think your Vpaddles will work fine. does it still have the raptor bolt pattern on the back? if it does i might have a set to try on there if the vpaddles dont work.

how many people do you guys expect or usually have in the utility 401-500? Any restrictions to mods at all in that class?

what is the entry fee? I actually talked to DJ this last weekend and he told me to come down but I completely forgot to ask him what the entry was?
