Team Update

As some of you know, Im big into drag racing atv's, and Im sure you know that I dont do it alone.The name of OUR team is, HICH CALIBER RACING which is named after a band I was once part of. We actually have 2 teams we race for. High Caliber Racing, and OMW Racing. But OMW is a big team full of several members across the nation. The reason I felt the need to give this update, on this forum, is because it involves one of your own. Our team consists of Myself Mark Horst, my wife Mandy Horst, the best jockey in the nation Dereck Djernes, our dog Frank LOL, and Im proud to announce our newest member....South Dakotas own...Nelly...He is so new to the team, that I dont even know his last name yet LOL. So he will be known as Nelly, from now on.

Because we already have one jockey, Nelly will be trained slowly. He will start out running this bike as much as possible...



and eventually get to the point to where he can run this bike with out any issues, and the ut-most of confidence...



Nelly will also continue to ride for Moby, which I told him I want that to be his number one focus. But Im sure we will all work well together. All the teams we race against, have more than one jockey and sometimes 3 or 4. There are plenty of bikes to ride between all of us. Except for me, I just stand on the side, point my finger, and yell at them. LOL

Welcome aboard, Nelly. You are given a great oppertunity here as we have some world class bikes amongst us. And, both you and Dereck could someday be asked to ride some of the fastest bikes in the world on the biggest stage of them all, Planetsand. But first things first.

Thanks alot everyone. And I want to thank Mark for giving me this oppertunity. It is huge deal for everyone and its awsome to have the chance to go out there and race with the big dogs. We have talked and it sounds like Mark will start me out on his smaller bike until I get use to it and get comfortable with everything and then we will move me into the big bike. I will also still be riding with Moby as my number one priority. (thats of course as long as he still lets me  ;)) I absolutly love racing his hotrods and I want to thank you Moby for letting me do so. I've learned alot from them and you have givin me the oppertunity to advance my riding skills on different machines.   

Many of you probably dont know my racing history but it will help me out alot on racing these bikes. I've drag raced just about anything from a Jr. Dragster to a couple passes in a super comp dragster, and anywhere from 65mph in the Jr. to 165mph in a full size drag car. Theres alot happening in that 1/4 mile and experiences with that will help me out alot.  I also am part of a Top Alcohol Funny Car team so i've traveled to the national events and I know what its like to race professionally and have people watching you. My goal someday is to actually drive a Top Fuel Dragster profesionally at speeds of 300+ mph in a 1/4 mile. I hope this oppertunity will help me reach that goal in the future.

Again, thanks to everyone that has put on the events and given us the chance to get more into the sport. I'll be proud to represent this website and South Dakota itself when we go racing!
