Went to Redfield "home of the in-laws" They had mud races for atv's. It was a figure 8 track with a loop around it.
Damn that was a blast. Way better than just drag racing through the mud. IT was a little more technical and had to have some rider ability to negotiate the turns mud holes and jumps.
Only 3 classes. 2wd,4wd, and Powderpuff. Best time out of 2 runs, with a practice run around the track before your first race.
The 2wd class only had 2. There was a Raptor 660 and a Honda 250R with paddle tires. The 250R did end up winning with a time of I believe 1:18
The powder puff there were 4 girls that rode 2 machines. One was a Sportsman 400 and the other was a Grizzly 450. I think one girl on the Grizzly won with a time of 1:14 and second went to one girl on the Sportsman with a time of 1:16.
The 4wd class had around 15 quads. There was a new Renny 800, a Prairie 700, a Grizzly 450, a Rubicon 500, a Outy 650, Sportsman 450, Arctic Cat 400, My Brute 650. Well that's the ones I can remember off hand.
The race was interesting since I had never done anything like it before. Glad I wasn't the first to go. I was the 5th one up and the fast time was 1:10 turned in by the Rubicon. I went out got my instructions from the starting guy and then did my practice run. Got back to the line and started my race. Man I felt like I was flying. Got all the way through the course without a hitch and went to check my time. 1 minute even. All I could think was awesome...10 seconds faster than the next fastest guy.
Well then My bubble burst about 8 riders later the Renny came to the line. I knew he was going to be the one to beat. He went out and drove his practice run and all I could think was he was really cookin. I was sure he had me beat by 10 seconds just in his practice run. But the Kawasaki gods were smiling down on me. When all the mud was done flying he had a time of 1:05.
2 more riders to go the Prairie 700 and the Sportsman 450. I wasn't worried about the Po Po, since it was the wife's uncle and I knew he was out there just to screw around in the mud and be a comedian, but I was a little worried about the 700. He ended up turning in a time of 1:04.
The next set of runs were about the same times for everybody. I ended up shaving a hair off and getting a 59.92 and the Renny got a 1:01 and the Prairie got a 1:02.
So needless to say I got my first taste of Mud Victory on my first figure 8 track.
Will post some video when I get that figured out how to get it from the disc to youtube.
