King/LTR vs. CanAm.....New Brute??
« on: December 14, 2007, 03:49:33 PM »
Hello all, I got a wild hair yesterday and was thinking of trading my King or LTR for a Outlander or Renegade. I've heard they have weak frames somewhere, anyone know anything about this? I've never rode one but, man they look fun. Just thought you guys might have some opinions. I also heard the new fuelie Brute 750s will take a Renegade in the first 300 feet, anyone race one of these yet? FYI....... Might be looking to sell King or LTR.

can ham = weak frames, weak a-arms and cant handle the abuse that other quads can

they have great motors (rotax) and are super fast. Dont get me wrong I love the concept of the renegade, but from what I have seen first hand(on more than one occasion), anytime these machines are pushed hard they break under abuse that other quads simply soak up. I have raced side by side with them in harescrambles and watched them break right in front of my own eyes.

In all fairness no machine out there has a fool proof frame. You can goto any ATV forum on the internet and read thread after thread how frames from Polaris to Suzuki to Honda have cracked or been damaged over the life of the quad. The CanAm machines are no different. With a set of skids on the Can Am machines I don't find their frames are any weaker than any other frame out there. Keep in mind nearly every machine out there has a set of factory/stock skid plates, the can-am machines do not. can-am dropped the ball on not providing ample STOCK protection to their quads. For the amount of money people pay for those machines they shouldnt have to spend another $400 or so on set of good skids.

kingrob,I had a brute 750 with a cdi box, with different clutch springs and it ran hard but it would not even come close to running with my renegade and my brute ran very well.My renegade rides by far better than my brute and the handling is crazy.I liked my brute and my grizzly 660.BUT I love the renegade, the fun factor goes to the renegade hands down.I don't ride alot of mud anymore just wanted a trail machine/go fast machine and the gade does the job.I was real close to buying a new raptor700 and keeping my brute but this is the best of both worlds. The efi is awesome especially in the winter.I have had no problems yet with 850 miles. My dealer is also a great dealer.
If you ever get down towards yankton and want to ride my renegade for awhile for a test ride your more than welcome to try it out.We could take it out for a day and see how it compares to the kq.I could also arrange for a brute 750 with a dyna to come along and play for the day to.Let me know

Hey. 1badatv, thanks for the input. I've got the next 2 weeks off and some friends and I want to try and get a couple of days of riding in down around the Vermillion area. If your available, lets stay in touch and see if we can't get together. I'd love to run my LTR against a renegade on something besides sand.
