Appleton, Minnesota
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:20:50 AM »
Went to an OHV riding area just outside Appleton, MN this weekend. Located in an old gravel pit with lots of trails from mud to sand, hills, jumps, and technical challenges! No fee for riding but your atv must be registered in the state you reside in. We need to get an open weekend and go up there with a big group! Not sure on camping but they have picnic shelters and porta potties on site. Also trails are marked but there are trails designated for jeeps and pickups that the atv's are supposed to stay off.

I figures it had to be kinda close to you.  Have you ever used your NOS on the trails or in the mud or just for grass draging?

Never on the trails, but mud is pretty fun until I hit the rev limiter.  I use it mostly for grass drags, or if the occasional Can-am rider gets cocky.   ;D

I might be up for a trip to Appleton.  Not too far from home for me.

Depending on when it is I might be able to go.  Would anyone be willing to ride this weekend?  Sat or Sunday?  I would like to ride at least one more time before my surgery on the 29.  I will be out for at least 6 weeks of no riding. Then it will be limiited to how ruff of a place if I could ride.

Here's a video I found that kind of samples the trails in Appleton.  It doesn't really show the hill climbs.  This was from before they expanded the park.  The music is terrible, in my opinion, unless you're in a shopping mood.

I just went out riding yesterday, beings everyone else in my house is sick with the flu or something else.  The water was everywhere.  All you guys that eat, drink, and breathe mud need to check it out before the water goes down or freezes up.  All 4 of us had our belts slipping at one point or another.  Mine started misfiring and eventually died and had to be pulled back to the trailer, but she's good today.  Another guy had his 650 H1 suck water in the motor, another got water in his carb and was sputtering and dying all afternoon.  If anyone wants to get a group together, we should do it soon, unless you don't like water.   ;D
