The sheet that I signed did say "DOT tires are in use on the vehicle" or something like that. My wife rides ours all over town and has never has any troubles; she even has some of her friends as riders on the back. I went as far as to install a license plate light on mine so it can be riden at night which can be a little hairy. We put DOT tires on at the begining of the summer, but up to that point the cops didn't say anything or bother us at all. For the most part if your not doing something stupid or run into a cop with a big head (younger), I think they are fairly reasonable. Use your best judgement.

I am totally street leagal.  I will tell you this, having regular street tires have saved me alot of money not having to buy mud tires.  I only have about 2,000 miles intown driving I have done since Feb of 07.  But I love to hop on it and go,  and so does my son.  8) ;D

kings tire makes a good set of dot tires for sport quads. you can get them from any tire outlet or suzuki shop in sf around $70 a tire. i've had mine since 05 and have put alot of time on them. since i can pretty much only ride on the street now. anyhow they still look close to new. takeing into account i don't run around frying off my tires.

I have stock tires and I ride south of Sioux Falls. I have been into Sioux Falls a couple of times, just to get gas. I haven't been stopedyet and my ATV was licened when I bought it. :)

I am a Deputy Sheriff and we do not enforce much of anything when it comes to atv's.  As long as they have a license plate we will not bother.  I have better things to do than harrass atv's.  And for the most part when you see a atv around my area,, I am probly riding with the group.  We live in a farming community and everybody and their dog rides a atv.

Funny you say that.  My dog rides all over town with me.  Actually had a lady ask me how I get the dog to stay on the atv.  I told her I put duct tape on her so when she sits down she's stuck.  When in all actuality she likes going for rides even though she's scared of the wheeler.  probably chased her around the yard to many times with the snowmobiles. :D

I have Allied Insurance costs me about $150 a year
