« on: April 21, 2009, 04:24:06 PM »
i was looking for atv's and i came across a 04 Polaris Sportsman 600 with 2000 miles for 3,600. Just looking for some input on what you guys think as far as if its a good deal or not. This will be my first utility so if you guys could give me some pointers that would be greatly appreciated

ive rode with a lot of Polaris's and i cant see anything really wrong with them. they are heavy and slower than some makes but if your looking for some thing to trail ride or use to go fishing hunting or working its just fine. from looking at the nada that stumper put it i would say its a little high priced but low mileage. i would see if he would go down some and i dont thing you would go wrong. then you can get out and ride.  ;)

If you are serious about buying an ATV, do as much research as you can about each one out there.  Come up with a list of all the features you would like to have and look for the one that is closest to your needs.  Lastly, ride them all before committing.

Dont let these guys give you shit about Polaris quads i ride nothing but polaris and i have owned every make and model of the other brands also.Depending on what kind of riding you do makes a little differance, but if you want something to ride alot and on trails polaris is the way to go.they offer the most comfort on all day trail rides and have very little trouble going anywhere you want to ride.I own 3 and i put more miles a year on each machine than most of these guys all combined together do in a year.I might get beat in a grass drag for 300 feet but i bought mine to ride a little farther than that ;) I average around 1500 miles a year on each machine.  The 04 model is still the older chassis in 05 they added more front suspension travel and the built in storage box in the front rack and had a body redesign, they stayed this way until the new 09 xp came out.

I'd say Thumper's advice is right on.  What someone else finds to be the best for their needs might not work out for you.  Go out and try to ride as many as you can to get a feel for the different makes.  With that particular quad you mentioned the only hesitation I would have is the price.  It's a buyers market right now and there are deals to be found.  With that being said if it's the quad you want then go for it.  Doesn't matter if the price is higher than market value if it's the quad you want and will be happy with.

You're trapped in a room with a ferocious bear, a crazed lion, and a Patriots fan. You have a gun but only two bullets. What do you do?

Shoot the Patriots fan........................twice.

You would be better off going with either a 50HO version Polaris or a 700 twin Polaris.  The 600 models did not run much better than the 500HO versions and were either only a 1 or 2 year model.
