Need Help With My Kawi
« on: March 30, 2009, 05:27:15 PM »
Not sure what is wrong with my Kawi Prarie 400. I was playing in the mud a couple weeks ago and got stuck in some gumbo, after rocking back and forth side to side and every other direction i was finally able to get out. I did notice that there were times that the front tires were not spinning and i would then switch directions. Here is the problem. Any time since then I get to more than 1/2 throtle I get one hell of a bang from my machine. I dont feel it loading up and the cv joints are intact. Is it possiable that I put a flat spot on the belt while i was on the throttle and the tires were not spinning? Or do i need to look in another direction? Any help would be appreciated.

was it in 4wheel drive before you go in the mud or did you try to put it after you were in all ready. im not sure if the 400's 4x4 system is the same as the big prairies and brutes but if it is kawies dont like to go into 4wheel drive with out moving forward or reverse some. you might want to look at the front diff.

It is full time 4WD so all 4 tires were spinning when i hit the gumbo.

The same thing happend in Geneoa when we were riding down there.  Check you transfer case.  The kid said that something cracked in the transfer case and was not let it stay in 4 wheel drive or sometimes engage.
