Been Riding alot around Dells to Trent to Baltic. Ice is good very fun right now!! Few open spots here and there but the water is only a foot or two deep in those spots. Some fun hills to climb from Dells to Trent.

Openthrottle:  How far is it on the river from Dells to Trent?  Ridden from Sioux Falls to Dells a couple times, but not further.

Just a FYI to anyone that is interested in river riding.  There may be a group of us riding from Baltic to Flandreau and back either Sat or Sun.  I am hoping to go if I feel better.  I will advise later in the week as if I am going or not.

It really depends on how much screwing around you do.  All I know from SF to Flandreau takes about 2/3 of a tank to ride.  But that is messing around.

I think its about 13 miles on the river from dells to trent Steves bar in trent not to far off river good place to warn up and get some thing to eat. And if you go on to Flandreau there is a cenex station just off the river to fuel up. No premium gas if thats what you run.

you can make it from dells to trent in about 15 min. if you just ride a normal speed. Not to far. If you get caught up climbing some hills it take a little longer, lol. Watch the corners they get pretty bare up towards trent, witch is fun if you know they are there,LOL

any fences still on the river?

we usually try to ride from sioux falls to flandreau and make a whole day trip out of it.

leave in the morning, stop in dell rapids for gas and warm up, steves in trent for a warm up, flandreau for a steak dinner at the steak house, fill up with gas and head back

we go through alot of gas screwing around on all the trails etc off the river, some great hill climbs around in spots

I have not heard of any on the river.  I know last year there were a couple but they took them out.

A group of us are planning to ride the river on Saturday. Some guys I race with are coming up from the south along with some family members. Should have about 10 guys or so. We will have a mix of quads, a utv and I even think someone is busting out an old school 3-wheeler.

weather is looking to be awesome should be a good time. I plan on putting on a lot of miles. With the exception of plowing, this will be the first time I have rode since June  :o

we rode from sioux falls to flandreau and back on saturday. we put on about 130 miles and had a blast. was pretty warm during the day and was awesome for riding.

we had a side by side go through the ice just south of baltic and there were some more open spots up by egan. any spot where there was open water wasnt more than a foot or two deep. some spots we intentionally drove through and it was hardly ever higher than our wheels. the one spot by eagan was about 3 ft wide and it was all the way accross the river so be careful. like i said its not deep but if your not going fast enough to fly over it you may have some trouble.

riding back after dark was super wet. we all got soaked with all the standing water on top of the ice we didnt leave flandreau until 6:30pm or so.

i kept track of the milage on my trail tech and it was almost exactly 30 miles from 38A to the gas station in dell rapids, and a little over 30 miles to flandreau from dell rapids all on the river.

I wonder what the river is like after all this warm weather.  I would like to get some more river riding in, but that might not be possible this winter.  Anyone been out this week at all?

i drove by 60th street tonight on the way home from work, for sure the edges are not frozen any more and there is either lots of open water or alot sitting on top of the ice

unless we get some super cold temps and i dont see any cold enough in the near future

probably done riding the river for this year
