Helmet or not?
« on: September 03, 2007, 05:26:33 PM »
So how do you all feel about helmet use? I personally think its a good idea to wear one,but I dont always. I usually wear mine any time I leave the yard unless its for a short run to the neighbors. I think its a personal choice whether or not to wear.

I usually don't wear one unless it is required,or in the black hills, or farmingdale.

I wear one at all times, except when I am using the quad to tow things around the yard, or just general work. But when I am riding I always ride one, you never know when somethings going to happen.

I have one that I thought would be nice to wear in the winter when it was cold. I also wear it from time to time on the trails when I know there are a lot of branches hanging down.

I wear my helmet about 90 percent of the time.  When I am on the farm running fence I don't,  but everwhere else.

wanted to bump this one up

I see lots of people posting pics and they are not wearing a helmet.

I understand its a personal preference but I think it gives the sport a bad name.

When I ride its usually pretty agressive fast trail riding or even racing. I always wear boots, chest protector, and a helmet. I have had some bad wrecks over time especially while racing and wearing safety equipment has kept all injuries to a minimum.

I guess what I am trying to say is dont give all the DO-GOODER people out there any more reasons to frown on our sport. We are already limited with riding areas as it is, dont give these people any more reasons to take away from our sport.

All it takes is one mishap.

back when i rode dirt bikes i wouldn't start the bike without having a helmet on, but now all i ride is utility's and slow pace trails and mud so i don't wear one. i know things happen fast and it only takes once but i'm more comfortable without one when traveling at a slow pace. guess i also don't wear one with the street bike either

I hate helmets, they are uncomfortable!!!!! But I did purchase the new full face that opens into a open face.  This helmet is sweet!!! I can open it if the weather is hot and close it when the dust or mud flies or the snow.  I make my kids wear one all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But I think people should start.  Helmets are cheap, ER room and funerals are expensive.

I have not got to pick on you for awhile, I would for sure wear one to cover your face so no one knows who you are being your in a polaris.

I wear a helmet 95% of the time.  The 5% represents when I'm heading to the bathroom.  :)

I think helmets look cool.

I've started to wear mine again because my daughters will call me out on it.  I can't make them wear one when I don't.  Plus I feel more confident when I wear it.

Hey Mary -- That 5%  that you don't wear one is dangerous when you head into the bathrooms. lol  A couple of weeks ago I bashed my head on the side of the outside -- wasn't looking where I was going.
I agree with you -- I love wearing my helmet -- its part of the ride.
