2009 events
« on: September 25, 2008, 03:18:23 PM »
What would some of you guys like to see added to some of the events for next year?  If we are going to continue to grow the sport I think we need to add some different events.  I was thinking an obsticale course would fit in at some of the events. Also a rally type race.  Does anybody have any suggestions for what we could do for a team event for 2 or 3 person teams?

It would be nice to add events that involve some rider skill to win rather than just those with the most power.  Check out the ATV Fair website (MN)- www.atvfair.org   for some ideas on an obstacle course.  Also anyone with some definate dates for events, this would be a good place to post next years dates and times for those of us who need to know an ungodly amount of time before the event to get off from work.  Team events would bring some comraderie to the sport, maybe a 3 person relay with an obstacle course.

How about a tug of war or a circle track in the mud just like the stock cars.  have a couple of heats with say 6 or 8 machines and then a feature with around 15 machines.  it wouldn't have to be a quarter mile, it could be an eigth mile and a foot and a half deep would make it interesting.  I think a tug of wqr would almost have to be on asphault or concrete though, to eliminate rocks being thrown at your back and for good traction

i will do some thinking and maybe do a 2 or 3 person team mud thing, maybe one race through and have to get off and touch the other person and then the 3 has to go in reverse throw the mud, something like that would be cool, i will think of something, geddes sounds like they will have two next year, May 30th on a saturday and then august 9th, i will do something to add some fun if possibly, maybe the one in may being nothing else is going on out there we can do a grass mud obstical course for a team deal.

How about a wheely race?  Have a 50' strip and you have to wheely to the end, and this would be side by side.

I would like to see somebody around here host a decent hare scramble event for quads.

For the past years I have put on a lot of miles driving out of state to race in other series. I have given the Sioux Valley cycle club a shot here locally but all their hare scrambles are is a small loop in a pasture with a lot of bumps.

there has got to be somebody that has enough land around here that could offer up a track that is a couple miles long. I have raced in hare scrambles where a lap was anywhere from 3 miles to 15 miles. I know most of the terrain in the state is pretty bare. But somebody has got to have some acres with some wooded trails, hills, timber, rocks and maybe even some creek crossings.

i have also seen team events incorporated into 6hr and even 12hr events where you race at night.

How many people do you think would participate in an event like that held in the Mitchell area?
