classes for 2009
« on: August 16, 2008, 07:44:52 PM »
I have heard a rumor and it may be true or not, but I will tell you next year the way things are going we will start to have modified classes, due to most of the people say they can't compete.  I know that if you have a big bore kit you will be in modified for sure, how will we prove it hard to say as of now,

I will say that as of now this is what will be able to run as stock, no module, no clutch work, factory exhaust and the classes will be in 200 cc groups problably.

Modified would be clutch work, cdi, exhaust,

open modified would be big bore kits and nos.

I have quite some time to play with things and see what would work the best, but I know that there is no way in hell that stockers or even mine can compete with a bbk.  Just thouight I would through it out there because i have people tell me they are done racing because they can't compete, and all mud trucks have modified classes and stock classes, everyone said it would come and next year will problalby be the year.

i agree with most of it but there wont be any stockers. i mean most people have something done. like cdi, pipe, and maybe clutch work. that all helps but thats also the cheap stuff to do. a bbk is on the expensive end. i think it should be any think except a bbk. cuse most can aford a cdi, and pipe. i dont know how you would tell if its got a bbk or not well to come to think about it what about cams.

i think the classes should be
stock which includes cdi, pipes, and clutch work. most of this is under 500 bucks.

then it can be moddified and that includes bbk, engine swaps, pretty much anything that has to deal with tearing into the engine. moddified frames longer swing arms. this list could go on for ever but you get the idea.

i was thinking the same thing, i have seen stock brutes run with cdi and pipes and that is fair but for sure engine swaps and bbk will be in there own class, and if somebody want to spend thousands to get 50 let them but they will not have much compition because most can not afford it.  I think next year you can run stock as long as the motor is origanal and has not been touched or swoped from another atv.

thats kinda what i thought it would be cool to see some one offs coming to the drags but right now i think we need to concentrate on just getting numbers to show up and compete. but also should keep and idea of what to do when those modified ones start showing up.

So my 650 would run modified?  Or open modified?  It's not a bbk, still just a 633.

You're trapped in a room with a ferocious bear, a crazed lion, and a Patriots fan. You have a gun but only two bullets. What do you do?

Shoot the Patriots fan........................twice.

well i dont know what all you did. if the engine has not been modified then you should be in stock. any thing you can bolt on to the out side of the engine i guess. you probly got cams to tho huh. i dont know if it was me i would say any thing that can be bolted on to the engine is stock. internal engine work would be modified. have to draw a line some where so that it makes it even some how. this would take some thinking. and know how. a person never whats to piss some one off by telling them there machine cant be in this class be cuse its to fast.  ;D ;D  but it has to be done.

Can't we just do like at the race tracks and put a compression tester in the cylindar.  I understand that some pugs are a bitch to get at (like the brute) but you'd only have to get to one of them.  At any race track you get an alotted amount of time ofter the race to protest somebody and you have to put up some money.  Say if I got beat by Moby I could put up $100 and have him inspected.  If he passes then he gets the money or half could go to the track and half to him.  If he fails then I keep the money.  If anybody is running way to fast consistantly then tear them down.  I don't agree with bolt ons being still stock cause NOS can be considered a bolt on, it can be run with no internal changes.  JMO

I hate to say it, but a machine dont have to have squat done to it to be faster than a machine with go fast parts. I saw it with my own eyes in Geddes. And I see it every time I ride with my group. What I think alot of people dont understand is that when they go stick big heavy tires on their bone stock quad, the same machine with lighter tires is gonna woop it. Everyone wants "cool" big tires when they buy their quad, then they decide to race and cant figure out why they are getting beat,"must be 1000's of dollars in them other machines to beat me like that" is what you hear.Shave 50 lbs of rotating mass off that sucker and it will run with them.

A guy with a BBK can have the same compression as a stocker, we would need a CC meter and those were spendy the last time I checked.

I agree with that.

The odd thing is when somebody is beating the others by just enough and the the finals they whoop'em by 5 lengths. there's always something fishy there

I always love when I hear well you have aftermarket tires on so your not stock.  BS  so when my tires ware out on my pickup and I put new tires on and if I don't put the exact tires from the factory on does that mean that it's not a stock pick up anymore?  Just cause I have the stock tires on my quad I wouldn't bitch that I got beat and it wasn't fair cause the other person more aggressive tires on.

lol yea of only. i also thought about the nos but thats kinda a given you would have people trying to get in saying it bolt on but come on people its more than that. yea people are going to complain and complain its hard to get away form that. i dont know how to realy check for bbk but if it comes a problem i guess we will have to find out a way. i dont care really right now i had fun running even if i got my ars kicked. but if i had the wife with 2 jobs i would care more cuse then i would be the bbk.  ;D ;D

I can see us losing 1/2 our numbers if we go to 200cc groups.

As you put more rules in for the classes you are going to end up with more people trying to cheat.  I mean the only way i am going to ever be the fastest mud racer is if we have a honda class.LOL
