The grass got cut and it looks like 300 foot track will work, have a meeting in two weeks, will let everyone know for sure then.

the meeting was changed to july 15th.  I need everyone's help.  The way it looks to me is that if I go with a 300 foot track that would only leave me about 150-200 foot shut down, so will that be enough?  I will be going up next sunday hopefully to redue the mud track, and I will bring mine along and do some runs and see.  I may have to shorten the track up, but I will do some runs and see, I would think if I can get my heavy brute to stop the sport quads should be able to also.

Just so you get an accurate idea of shut down needed.  The quicker quads will be 60+ and real drag quads faster yet.

First of all, I'd see if anyone plans on bringing any modded out quads. If its going to be mostly quads with bolt-ons and mild mods I think you will be ok.

I will run the strip with mine and see what is safe for stopping and the sport guys can go from there, I will let everyone know ASAP how long the track will be.  I will make it as long as possible, yet be safe for stopping.

I would think that 150-200 Ft. should be more than enough to stop. I was just looking around for a comparison and the Dodge Journey (some new crossover thing) can stop from 70-0 in 189 ft. of course that's on pavement, but you should be able to get a quad whoaed up faster than that.

However, I'm new to this whole business, so maybe I'm wrong.

I think it should be fine. I would just make sure in the drivers meeting that you make it clear everyone has to shut it down right away and be ready to brake aggessively.

I did a 300 foot run tonight and I hit around 47 mph and I got mine to shut down, with no problem at 200 foot.  that is if I take it easy on the brakes and if i get into her hard 150 feet, but to be safe I will try to get 250 foot shut, even if i have to shorten the track to 250.

sounds like yours runs pretty good i can only get to about 45ish and thats a walked off 300.

I had some calls this last week and have changed some of the classes.  The only thing i changed was the kids class.  There are some parents that their kid only have 70cc and they think it is a waste to run against 110cc.  See how people get competitive at such a young age.  So I even it out a little.  That basically means that all 70 and 90 will race together and the 110 will be with them selves unless some 90 jump up a class, I am sure my boy will want to race twice.  And if he looses, big deal, it gets them some seat time. And if we dont have more than 5 in the 0-100cc class I will take the trophies that are left over and we will add them to the 101-125 class and give more places.

Just got back from the meeting, I will have enough room for a 300 foot track and i wiill have around 350 foot to shut down, that will be great plenty for any quad that will race.  I will be going up to geddes on sunday i hope and shortning the track up a little and taking out the big hill that we had last year.  I will not be going as deep so we dont have so many people getting stuck.  So everyone that said they would race if i had a 300 foot track, it is done and you better show up, It will be a good time and they are only charging 3.00 for spectators and the racers get in for free.  There will be no pit fee to my knowledge.  But the big thing they brout up is that no riding atvs unless you are on the track, it is fine when it is over to race as long as you are on the track, so no joy riding around it will be enforced because someone almost got ran over last year by where all the atvs unload.  Seee you all in geddes on the 10th of august and make sure you are on time for registration, if you are not there by 10:30 no race.

i would say your right, about 80-85 miles, it is 70 from mitchell, avon is about half way.
