big sioux river riding
« on: January 13, 2012, 08:56:31 AM »
anyone have any ice conditions on the river?

I was in Dell Rapids a few days ago and was suprised to see the river was frozen over. Any idea how soon it will be safe for ATV traffic? I swore I saw tracks on the river down by the park but I could have been mistaken.

I was there on Sunday and see. The same thing.  I didn't see anyone riding but slot of fresh tracks.  I have not even considered riding on it yet!!  But I wouldn't mind it!!!!

I wouldnt go near it any time soon. There are lakes not safe to ride on. There was a life lost today on poinsett due to thin ice.

yeah i drove by there this afternoon didnt look like its been getting alot of traffic. Parking area was completely empty.

I also noticed a single sled track on the diversion channel that runs parallel to N Minnesota under the benson ave bridge to the spillway. That had to take some guts.....no thanks
