grass drag racing meeting
« on: December 19, 2010, 07:03:17 PM »
I received a call tonight from someone who wants to have a meeting feb 1st at 7:00 pm at the yankton bowling alley.He wants to set up a points series and he also has timers and light for the races.No more arm drops and flaggers.He also wants to try to set up a more professional set of rules and regulations for racers to abide by.This is why he is asking all interested parties to show up for their say and input on the matter.

I believe this is just what we need to keep the sport going and growing forward.If you don't show or put in any input on it, there will be no reason to complain about the rules at the events.There will be other meetings in the future but this one is to just get the word out and the ball rolling.
If you cannot make it feel free to post your ideas on here or pm them to me and I will ask about it

This sounds like a great idea.  The sport has lost some intrest the last couple of years and getting something like this set up will bring some of the intrest back.

adding rules and being able to inforce them will be a great.  Are they talking grass or tilled track?   I think having a governing body will also help with making sure the tracks are up to snuff aswell.

I wont be able to make it..  You should post up the results of the meeting so the people who can't make it can put in their 2 cents before a final decision or somethin

I will, I think this is just to see if there is real interest in starting this or not.

So with that said, please feel free to post on the subject here to see how many of you ARE interested in having an organized race season

Seems like the classes they had in Gayville worked out good? I have no complaints there. I think if someone has done motorwork other than bolt on's should be in a modified or superstock class. just my opinion.

I agree.  I think there should be a class in between the stock class and outlaw class.  The only problem with that would be pretty much me and Olson would be running alone in the outlaw class, unless if more people are going to do big builds.  I dont think it would be fair watching the same person win every time due to others adding a little power and being put up against bikes that are making big power.   If we had timers we could keep the classes closer together

what about no classes? If we have timers set it up so you race in a certain time area.Classes like  4.3-4.6....4.7-5.0.......5.1-5.4.......etc etc  kind of like a bracket race instead,that way you would see different cc's running against each other and would also include alot on the driver skill for a dialed in time.That's what T&T is for right? You could use the T&T to set up your time and choose the class you would run in.This would also help eliminate sandbaggers.
Just a thought  ::)
