Talsma's fall event
« on: August 18, 2010, 10:45:30 PM »
Wondering if they are having one and if so when is it and what is it.  I'm wanting to get muddy.
You're trapped in a room with a ferocious bear, a crazed lion, and a Patriots fan. You have a gun but only two bullets. What do you do?

HELLO ALL, Just a heads up on the next events.
Sept. 11th - CLOSED for Hope Haven Horse Trail Ride. (Open again on Sun. the 12th for ATV's)
Sept. 18th & 19th - Fall Event (Grass Drags- Sat., Mud Run- Sun.)
Oct. 30th - Halloween Scare Ride (any volunteers or ideas welcome)
CLOSED - 1st 2 weekends of rifle deer season

As most of you all know we did not do the Spring Event this year and had a guided tour for anyone who was interested. It seemed to go well. We had alot of good comments. Maybe that is something we will continue to do. Thanks guys for all the help giving tours. We appreciate all you do. Now, for the fall event. We have decided to try the Mud Run again and pass on the obstacle coarse after having several requests for it. We do have another water sourse now we are going to try so lets hope that works. It will eliminate the problem of hauling any water. Yahooooooo!!!! Hope to see you all out here and happy riding. Tina and Jerry

one time it was to dry, and last time it was to deep and wet no one could make it through. The problem is we have to haul all the water from a stock dam which takes ALOT of volunteers 2 days to haul,if it rains we cant haul,we are going to try something differant this time. The grass drags will be the same,in the alfalfa field.

Can't wait.  Hopefully I can get off work that weekend.  By then I will need a break.  Starting Monday I will probably be putting in over 15 hr days to get all the combines done.  Oh and the eggs have been soaking since Easter.  Should be a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ready, if for nothing else to camp out and sit around with you guys. Last years mud pit was for the pure die hard mud rider that wanted some thick mud with deep holes. i liked it even though I was on the 300 (had to run to the 500 class).

Corps Sends More Missouri River Water Downstream
 Published: August 20, 2010, 6:40 AM

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Army Corps of Engineers plans to release more water from two Missouri River reservoirs in southeast South Dakota over the next two weeks.

The corps is lowering the water level so the reservoirs can hold runoff next spring and summer.

Releases will be increased by 13 to 18 percent from Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown and Gavins Point Dam at Yankton. Discharges will be boosted to around 46,500 to 47,500 cubic feet per second.

I would like to see a mud pit like the one in vermillion with a couple small changes.  It wouldn't take near as much water as last year and it will hold together for the whole event.
